We are located in North Goa, just a few minutes away from bustling Calangute, Candolim and Baga beaches with all their fun restaurants, shops and beaches. We are a little over an hour’s drive away from Goa's Dabolim Airport. A 20-minute drive takes one to either Mapusa or the capital city of Panjim. The beautiful churches of Old Goa are about 45 minutes drive. Summertime is located on a gentle hill just outside the village of Calangute. It is quite a hidden location on a lane with very little traffic, which means peace and privacy for our guests. Of course, when you make a booking with us, we will either give you precise directions or arrange transport for you.
The villa sleeps a maximum of 6 guests in 2 double and 1 twin bedrooms. In order to preserve the spacious feel, we can provide an extra bed in only one of the suites (at extra cost). This makes the maximum number of occupants 7. Apart from that, we can accommodate one extra child below 6 years old free of cost, provided the child shares the bed with the parents, or, if the child is under two years of age, in our baby cot.
The best time to travel to Goa is between November and March, when the weather is dry and relatively cool, the sea is calm and clear, and all the facilities, from resorts and restaurants to beach shacks and night markets, are open for business. From April until the monsoon rains break in June, the weather gets increasingly hot and humid but on the hill where Summertime is located, there is always a fresh breeze. And then there is the Goa monsoon. Almost like clockwork, within the first ten days of June, the rains arrive accompanied by thunderstorms. The monsoons are truly a spectacular experience from the height and comfort of the villa.
Summertime is open all year around!
Our staff includes a caretaker/manager, cook, house-cleaning staff, gardeners and pool cleaner. Most of our staff members speak and understand basic English. All of them will help to make your stay a beautiful experience. The caretaker stays in a room adjoining the kitchen. This bedroom has its own attached bathroom and a television.
Summertime provides a trained chef free of charge. You need to pay only for the ingredients; you can go shopping for them yourself, or the chef can do it for you on your instructions. It’s home-style cooking, made to your tastes, and the chef knows a variety of cuisines, so it’s best to discuss with him what you would like. It helps to order meals a few hours earlier, but lots of options are available, from larger, elaborate meals to simpler sandwich-style lunches.
Our staff will rest during the day for 2 hours between 3-5 pm and they will retire by 10 pm at night. Outside these timings, you can have your meals as you like (please allow the staff time to prepare the fresh meals).
The kitchen has a purified water system (Reverse Osmosis) and this will be available free of charge. There is a facility to make hot water and coffee/tea which are also complimentary.
We generally only accept bookings for 3 nights or longer. If you have fallen in love with Summertime, but can only come for a shorter time than 3 nights, get in touch – we may just have a gap between two longer bookings where we could accommodate you!
Just write us an email giving the dates you are looking at and the number of guests with their ages. Once we receive your enquiry we will check availability of the villa and advice you the price. If you decide to proceed with the booking, we will send you the booking form and other details. You will need to pay 30% in advance through a Bank Transfer, and the balance 2 months prior to your arrival date.
Summertime can put you in touch with a reliable car rental agency that can provide you with a self-drive car, or car and driver, or, if you prefer, a two-wheeler. Then, you have the freedom to visit the beach or in the evenings sample the many restaurants, night markets or famous clubs in Goa. You’ll find a folder in the villa in which we have compiled a list of useful information about the interesting things that you could do in Goa.
The two acres of gardens have landscaped bits, fruit orchards, walking paths and an organic vegetable/herb garden across the road. All of this can be enjoyed by our guests at Summertime. As also the pools (large one for swimming and an adjacent one for lounging), pool deck, pool pavilion and waterfall are open for the guests. Under the pools is a private apartment - with its own entrance and gardens. This area is clearly marked as private and we expect guests to respect that. Our caretaker has his self contained room just off the kitchen. We ask you to respect his privacy.
We welcome families with children - Summertime is a great place for kids. However, we must impress that care should be taken at all times, particularly for young children. Some of the landscaped slopes and steps may be slippery for toddlers without a grown-up accompanying them. The swimming pool area is unfenced and there is no lifeguard. It is self-supervised and children must have an adult supervising them while swimming. It is advised not to use the pool at night. Summertime will not be responsible for any injury arising from any fall etc while you are in residence.
The Koi Suite is located on the ground floor and has its own sit-out deck overlooking the waterfall and the koi pond. This suite is ideal for the elderly or disabled. Even though Summertime is located on a slope of a hill, the villa is designed in such a way that a person in a wheel-chair can also enjoy it. There is a ramp for entering the villa from where you can access the living/dining, the outside dining and of course, the ground-floor Koi suite. The pool pavilion can be accessed by a wheel chair, with an attendant. Help will be needed to go to the pool deck though, where the wheel chair will need to be lifted and taken down/up.
We are sorry that we don’t allow any pets to accompany you. The exception to this is Bubbles. She is a spirited little dog who belongs to us and who cannot be kept away by any fence! She has the run of the grounds but isn’t allowed inside the villa.
The policy at Summertime is not to allow outsiders inside the property. This rule is to ensure the privacy and security of the property and its guests. This includes any outsiders, including friends, casual visitors or any trades-people.
There is a yoga centre within easy drive from Summertime. Please ask for timings of classes.
At Summertime, we provide you with fresh bed-linen 3 times a week. We also provide you with pool towels but do bring along beach towels if you plan to go to the beach. We have a washing machine & dryer, and an iron and ironing board, which guests are free to use for their personal laundry during their stay. Our staff can also do this for you, provided you separate your laundry and give it to them in the morning. Dry-cleaning facilities are available close by.
Like elsewhere in India, Goa has 220 volts power supply. Unfortunately, the power situation has not improved much and frequent outages continue to occur. Summertime guests have nothing to fear though as we have a 24 hour full power backup generator.
We provide free Wi-Fi internet access in all the rooms. The reception is reasonably fast but can at times be erratic.
Should you need medical aid, doctors and hospitals are close by. It is always a good idea to carry the medicines you normally need.
For the safety of your personal belongings, there is an electronic safe in each bedroom of Summertime.
Summertime is located in a quiet and peaceful green and forested area full of birdlife. We kindly request you to respect the environment and keep your noise to acceptable levels. If you wish to play music, then please do so in a considerate way. We have a Bluetooth speaker available for your use; please ask the staff for how to connect. Loud music should not be played under any circumstances.
Smoking is permitted outside in the veranda and gardens. Please do not smoke in the bed rooms and living areas.
The possession and/ or taking of drugs is a serious offence followed by many years in an Indian jail even before a trial. We do not allow drugs to be brought into Summertime for whatever reason. If we suspect that this has occurred, we reserve the right to ask you to vacate the premises without notice.
